...Art is the fiber of society
It's true, one of the first people groups to be oppressed in a totalitarian regime are the artists. Why? Because those in power know that to decieve the people, they must first take away their ability to express themselves; and art of all kinds is the deepest form of self expression.
...Music is a language
Plato once said that to change a culture you have to look beyond government, politics and law- you simply had to change the music and the culture would follow along. Music speaks to the human spirit in a way no other language can speak.
